The leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea will visit Busan on Friday to hold a budget policy consultative meeting, pledging support for the city's key projects and the inclusion of Busan-related programs in next year's national budget.

The Democratic Party's Busan chapter announced Thursday that the meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the main conference room of Busan City Hall. Party leader Kim Min-seok, floor leader Han Byung-do, policy committee chair Kwon Chil-seung, National Assembly Budget and Accounts Committee Chairman Lee Gwang-jae, Good Local Government Committee Chairman Yeom Tae-young and Busan chapter chair Park Hong-bae are all expected to attend.

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Oh Seok-geun, political affairs adviser Jeong Gyeong-won and policy coordination adviser Hong Sun-heon will also take part in the meeting.

Busan city officials said they aim to secure the ruling Democratic Party's full backing for restructuring the city's industrial base and laying the groundwork for future industries, including power semiconductors, blockchain and quantum technology.

The party's Busan chapter also plans to ask the central leadership to push for national budget allocations for six of the city's 10 priority national funding projects that have yet to receive any funding.

"As both a member of the National Assembly's budget committee and chair of the Busan chapter, I will do everything in my power to ensure the maximum possible national budget is secured for Busan during the parliamentary review process — for the completion of Busan as the maritime capital and for a better life for its citizens," Park said.
