Jungnang-gu held its "2026 Jungnang-gu Senior Longevity Celebration" on Tuesday at Haneul Garden The Party, organized by the district's Hyosarang Volunteer Association.
The event was arranged to honor the longevity of elderly residents who have long served as pillars of the community and to recognize the dedication of family members who have cared for them.
As of August this year, residents aged 65 and older number about 91,000, accounting for 24 percent of Jungnang-gu's total population, with 57 residents aged 100 or older.
The event drew about 150 attendees, including one oldest resident from each of the 16 neighborhoods — 16 seniors in total — along with their families and guests.
The two oldest attendees were a 99-year-old woman from Muk 2-dong and a 99-year-old woman from Sinnae 1-dong. The program opened with a traditional three-bow ceremony, followed by a group singing of "A Parent's Grace," congratulatory performances and a meal.
Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said it was meaningful to gather in one place and celebrate the oldest residents representing each neighborhood. "I wish all the seniors who have been with Jungnang-gu for so many years good health and peace," he said, "and we will work together to ensure that a culture of respect and care for our elders continues within families and the broader community."
