Military authorities are investigating the death of a noncommissioned officer in his 20s who was found dead at quarters belonging to the Korea Air Force Academy.

According to the Air Force and police, the sergeant, identified only as A, was found dead Saturday in a bathroom at academy quarters in Sangdang-gu, Cheongju.

No signs of criminal activity have been found so far. A note was reportedly discovered at the scene in which A expressed difficulties with military life.

Also found on the bathroom door were the names of about 10 people, written in red. Military investigators are looking into the circumstances under which the names were written and whether they are connected to A's death.

"We conducted an initial autopsy and scene examination together with civilian police and the National Human Rights Commission of Korea," an Air Force official said. "The Air Force Investigation Unit is currently leading the investigation to determine the exact cause of death."
