Partners with S-Oil Total Energies Lubricants
Technicians visit customers at their chosen location after online order
Next-day service enabled through nationwide logistics network
Battery and corporate fleet management to follow
CJ Logistics is expanding its automotive care services beyond at-home tire installation to include on-site engine oil changes. The company will use its nationwide logistics network to ship the necessary parts to each region, with certified technicians visiting customers at their preferred location.
CJ Logistics said Wednesday it has partnered with S-Oil Total Energies Lubricants to launch the on-site engine oil change service.
The service begins Thursday. Customers who order an oil change through the S-OIL 7 Naver Smart Store can have a certified technician come to a location of their choosing on a date they select — no separate garage appointment or on-site wait required.
CJ Logistics handles the logistics side of the operation. Once an order is placed, engine oil and various filters are shipped to the customer's region, where a locally assigned technician picks up the products and carries out the visit.
The company has also set up a system allowing customers to schedule a change for the day after they order, leveraging its nationwide delivery network. The project is led by The Unban Group, the middle-mile logistics arm within CJ Logistics.
Unlike conventional parcel or freight delivery, the service links product delivery directly to an in-person service call. CJ Logistics plans to use regional order and service-usage data to improve delivery routing and technician dispatch efficiency.
The company's on-site automotive service business took shape last year, when CJ Logistics teamed up with Kumho Tire to launch a nationwide at-home tire installation service. Under that model, tires are transported to the relevant region and a technician visits the customer directly to fit them.
The new service extends the same model to engine oil. The company plans to eventually add car batteries and other items, building a one-stop business model covering product purchase, delivery and installation.
CJ Logistics is also targeting corporate clients — including car rental companies and businesses that operate large vehicle fleets — in addition to individual customers. The company sees strong potential to expand the on-site service into business-to-business territory, given the large number of vehicles that require regular consumable replacements.
"Following tires, we are broadening our service scope to engine oil and opening up new business possibilities in the mobility sector," a CJ Logistics official said. "Drawing on our nationwide logistics network and field service capabilities, we will continue to develop differentiated business models that address the diverse needs of our customers."
Meanwhile, CJ Logistics is also expanding its lifestyle logistics services beyond the automotive sector. The company will handle delivery for "instant purchase" products at Karrot's first secondhand trading event, "Karrot Day," on Oct. 10, offering each attendee up to five free deliveries on the day.
