Students plan and produce their own content using MapleStory World, building digital literacy and creative problem-solving skills
Gangnam-gu will partner with the Nexon Foundation to run the "2026 MSW Creator School Starter Course," an ESG-linked education program, beginning Oct. 10.
The program is a hands-on digital creative education course in which students plan and produce their own games and content using MapleStory World (MSW), Nexon's flagship intellectual property. Through public-private cooperation with the Nexon Foundation, the district cut roughly 98 percent of the program's operating costs, allowing it to offer high-quality digital education to local students.
Classes will be held every Saturday for four weeks — from Oct. 10 through Oct. 31 — at the Gangnam Future Education Center, totaling eight sessions of 45 minutes each. Participants will work through the basic principles of MSW to plan and complete their own original content.
Students will independently design the structure and rules of their content, then execute and refine their work — a process expected to build logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Presenting and sharing their finished projects is intended to give participants a sense of achievement as creators.
The program is open to 20 students in sixth grade of elementary school or first year of middle school who live in Gangnam-gu or attend a school in the district. Applications open Tuesday on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gangnam Future Education Center website.
Gangnam-gu District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki said the program is "a meaningful opportunity to provide young people with a high-level digital creative experience through pioneering public-private cooperation with one of Korea's leading IT companies." He added that the district would "continue to expand differentiated future education programs so that students can develop digital literacy and creative problem-solving skills and grow into the talent of tomorrow."
