Amid a growing controversy over alleged historical distortions in the film "The Assassin," film YouTuber Jimubi, who has about 4.17 million subscribers, has deleted content related to the movie, drawing attention.

According to Sports Seoul, content about "The Assassin" that had been uploaded to the Jimubi channel was no longer accessible as of Tuesday. Jimubi has not issued any statement regarding the removal.

"The Assassin" topped the box office over the chuseok holiday weekend, but the film has also found itself at the center of a historical distortion controversy.

The film is based on the 1974 assassination attempt on first lady Yuk Young-soo and follows efforts to trace those behind the attack. Some viewers and politicians have raised objections, arguing the film presents a particular hypothesis as fact, while others have pushed back, contending the work falls within the bounds of creative freedom.

As the controversy grew, the production team issued an official statement Monday to address the criticism.

"The Assassin was not made to establish a new historical conclusion or distort existing facts," the production team said, describing the film as "a dramatic feature that adds cinematic imagination to publicly available records and materials."

"Nowhere in the film is any specific individual identified as the mastermind behind the incident, nor are hypotheses or dramatic devices presented as historical fact," the team added. "This is not a film made with any particular political purpose or intent."
