Jeep announced Tuesday the official domestic launch of the New Grand Cherokee L, a mid-cycle refresh of the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee that combines the brand's signature off-road capability with the comfort of a premium three-row SUV.

The New Grand Cherokee L is designed to embody what Jeep calls "luxury adventure" — pairing upscale refinement with rugged performance in a single vehicle. Built on a 3,090-millimeter wheelbase, it seats seven across three rows and offers up to 2,395 liters of cargo space.

The most significant change is a new powertrain. The 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo gasoline engine incorporates Turbulent Jet Ignition (TJI) technology derived from Formula 1 motorsport, adapted for mass-production use to improve both fuel efficiency and throttle response. Compared with the outgoing 3.6-liter V6, the new engine delivers 329 horsepower — a 15 percent improvement — and maximum torque of 45.89 kilogram-meters, up 31 percent.

Combined fuel economy stands at 7.9 kilometers per liter, up 0.2 km/l from the previous model. The smaller 2.0-liter displacement also reduces the annual automobile tax burden for Korean owners.

Off-road capability has also been upgraded. An electronic rear limited-slip differential works in tandem with the top-tier Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system to distribute drive force effectively even when one wheel loses traction. Quadra-Lift air suspension adjusts ride height to suit road conditions, while the Selec-Terrain system offers five driving modes — delivering the rough-terrain capability needed off-road alongside the stability and comfort required for high-speed, long-distance highway driving.

The exterior and interior design, digital features and premium specifications are also worth noting. The front fascia refines Jeep's signature seven-slot grille, while inside, a 12.3-inch center touchscreen and a dedicated front-passenger display enhance convenience for all occupants. The vehicle also comes with a 19-speaker McIntosh premium audio system and T-map navigation.

All seats are upholstered in premium Palermo leather. Standard equipment includes an active noise control system, heated and ventilated front seats with power massage, and third-row 50:50 power-folding seats.

"Korea is the only market in the Asia-Pacific region where customers can experience the New Grand Cherokee L," said Bang Sil, president of Stellantis Korea. "The fact that only Korean customers can experience this new model — with its powerful performance and premium comfort — makes the rarity and ownership value of the New Grand Cherokee L all the more special."

The New Grand Cherokee L goes on sale in Korea in the top-spec Summit Reserve trim, priced at 114.9 million won ($84,500), including VAT.

Meanwhile, Stellantis Korea has been actively expanding its customer touchpoints, recently opening integrated showrooms in Gangnam and Seocho — branded Stellantis Brand House (SBH) — where visitors can see both Jeep and Peugeot vehicles under one roof in Seoul's key import-car retail districts.
