'Large text' feature added to website
'Easy Guide' booklet walks travelers through the full journey
Up to 10% fare discount for members aged 60 and older
Eastar Jet announced Tuesday it is launching a campaign called "Travel Made Easy for Everyone," aimed at making air travel more accessible for active seniors — retirees who remain engaged in leisure activities — and lowering the psychological barriers associated with low-cost carriers.
The campaign focuses on reducing inconveniences that senior customers may encounter at every stage of travel, from booking a ticket to navigating the airport and boarding or disembarking the aircraft.
According to the airline, passengers aged 50 and older accounted for 20.3 percent of its total boardings in the first half of this year — roughly one in five travelers. Those aged 60 and older made up 8.9 percent of that figure.
Eastar Jet said it is paying close attention to the active senior demographic, which values both affordability and practicality while actively pursuing travel and leisure. The airline plans to combine competitive fares with greater convenience at the booking, airport and in-flight stages, lowering the threshold for senior travelers and expanding its customer reach.
As a first step, the airline is introducing a large-text feature on its website. Clicking "Screen Enlarge" in the upper right corner allows users to adjust font size in increments, letting customers browse the site more comfortably based on their eyesight and device preferences.
In addition, Eastar Jet will distribute a travel guide called the "Easy Guide," which explains in plain language the information passengers need for a flight, helping senior customers navigate the process with less difficulty.
The guide walks users through the entire ticket-booking process step by step — from accessing the website to searching for flights, making a reservation and completing payment. It also provides intuitive instructions for airport procedures, covering check-in, baggage drop, security screening, moving to the gate and boarding, so that even first-time travelers can follow along with ease.
The campaign also includes a promotional discount offering tangible benefits to senior customers. Eastar Jet will offer up to 10 percent off international airfares for website members aged 60 and older. The promotion runs from 10 a.m. Tuesday through Dec. 31.
"We want active senior customers who spend wisely to know that a low-cost carrier can be a great option for them," an Eastar Jet official said. "Going forward, in line with our brand slogan 'Easy Flight,' we will continue to expand services tailored to our customers' needs so that anyone — regardless of age or gender — can travel easily and comfortably."
Meanwhile, Eastar Jet is actively expanding its fleet to improve service. Following the addition of two Boeing 737-8 aircraft — each configured with 189 seats — in August, the airline took delivery of its 24th aircraft on Sept. 20.
