Dongjak-gu is holding a "mini book review" event to encourage residents to read more and help build a culture of voluntary reading in the community.
The event runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 9, centered on the themes of autumn, growth and comfort.
The district designed the event to give residents a space to connect through books, while also boosting engagement across its SNS channels and broadening everyday reading habits.
Residents who wish to take part must follow at least one of the district's six official SNS channels — KakaoTalk Channel, blog, Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Karrot — then read a book that fits the themes and leave a mini review of 25 to 50 characters in the comments of the event post on the Dongjak-gu blog.
Participants then complete their entry by taking screenshots of their SNS follow and mini review and submitting them via Naver Form.
Ninety winners will be selected by draw and each awarded a 10,000-won mobile culture gift voucher. Participants who submit two or more reviews or copy another person's review will be disqualified.
Results will be posted on the Dongjak-gu website on Oct. 28, and winners will also be notified individually. Those with questions may contact the district's Culture Policy Division.
The district is also running a range of other reading programs to enrich residents' cultural lives — a picture-book walking program at Kamangdol Library, a reading session for young minds at Sadang Solbat Library, and a children's reading program at Daebang Children's Library.
"Even the same book can touch different people in different ways and move them differently," Dongjak-gu District Mayor Ryu Sam-young said. "I hope this event gives everyone a chance to find a book that suits the autumn mood and share with their neighbors the sentences that stayed with them."
