Korea Ocean Business Corp. will hold a seminar Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Korea Maritime Cooperation Center in Jung-gu, Busan, to share maritime trial results for energy saving devices (ESD) and wind assisted propulsion systems (WAPS), the state-run shipping finance agency announced Monday.

The seminar targets officials from shipping companies, shipyards and the marine equipment industry. It aims to share results from applying eco-friendly equipment on actual vessels while providing information smaller shipping firms need to adopt such technology. In particular, the event will go beyond simply introducing technology to present verified performance data gathered through actual ship operations.

Key sessions will cover ESD maritime trial research cases, wind assisted propulsion system trial results, the current technology level of wind assisted propulsion systems, performance estimation guidelines and ESD third-party verification results.

Korea Ocean Business Corp. said it hopes the seminar will help shipping companies considering eco-friendly equipment make more concrete assessments of the technology's strengths, limitations and applicability.
