Dynapro HPX named OE tire for Atlas SUV

18, 20 and 21-inch sizes across North American lineup

All-season EMC boosts handling, braking and mileage

Hankook Tire & Technology said Monday it will supply its premium SUV comfort tire, the Dynapro HPX, as original equipment for the North American version of Volkswagen's full-size SUV, the Atlas.

The Atlas is Volkswagen's flagship SUV developed for the North American market, drawing steady demand with its spacious interior, versatility and stable ride.

Hankook Tire will supply the Dynapro HPX in 18-, 20- and 21-inch sizes for Atlas models sold in North America. The SUV-specific tire delivers comfortable ride quality and low cabin noise backed by strong all-season handling and braking performance. It carries an M+S (mud and snow) rating and is engineered to perform reliably across dry, wet and snowy road conditions.

The tire features 3D Grip Control sipe technology, in which interlocking serrated blocks minimize movement to enhance block rigidity, grip and handling. A wear-resistant all-season EMC and a wider contact patch improve mileage performance, while knurling technology inside the grooves and an optimized multi-pitch tread arrangement reduce road noise and improve ride comfort and quietness.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire & Technology has been building out its original-equipment tire portfolio across key models within the Volkswagen Group, deepening its strategic partnership with the automaker. In addition to the Atlas, the company supplies OE tires for the Volkswagen Tayron and Tiguan, and for Cupra — the group's performance brand — including the Tavascan, Terramar, Born and Raval.

The company is also expanding the collaboration through Laufenn, its global tire brand, supplying tires for the Volkswagen Polo and Golf 8, the Skoda New Octavia, and the Seat Ibiza, Arona and Leon.

Laufenn made its global debut in 2015 and has since broadened its lineup from passenger car and SUV tires to commercial tires for trucks and buses, and is now sold in more than 100 countries.
