CU is teaming up with Peripera, the color makeup brand under Clio, to release 10 beauty products featuring its CU Friends characters on Oct. 1.

Under the collaboration, CU contributed its intellectual property — including the characters — while Peripera handled product development and launch. The products will be sold through major domestic retail channels including CJ Olive Young, Club Clio Mall, Ably, Zigzag, Musinsa and Kakao Gift. They will also be available in 13 countries overseas, including Japan, Thailand, Canada, the Philippines, Australia and China.

CU said the collaboration is part of its broader push to extend its IP into external areas such as beauty and merchandise. The company plans to widen the CU Friends characters' reach through both domestic and international retail channels.

The products draw their designs from popular convenience store snacks and desserts. The Mood Glowy Tint takes its cue from pudding, the Ink Glasting Lip Gloss from yogurt, the highlighter from an ice cup and the shadow palette from chocolate. The cushion foundation is inspired by steamed mandu, while the blush references the Dubai Chewy Cookie.

A range of CU Friends merchandise will also be on offer — a pudding-shaped squishy toy, a puff designed to resemble a roasted egg, pouches shaped like triangle kimbap and roll kimbap, and a lip container modeled after a shopping tote bag.

A pop-up store with a beauty tester zone will run through Oct. 31 at the CU Seongsu Dessert Park location in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

"We will continue connecting CU's brand assets to diverse fields to broaden customer touchpoints and enhance the value of the CU brand," said Kang Byeong-hak, head of BGF Retail's brand marketing team.
