Andong city in North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that the 2026 National Forest Management Conference will be held over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, at the Korea Studies Advancement Center in Dosan-myeon.
Organized by the Korea Forest Management Association and hosted by its Daegu-North Gyeongsang chapter, the event is expected to draw about 350 participants, including forest managers from across the country and representatives of forestry-related agencies and organizations.
This year's conference carries the vision "Beyond the success of forest greening, toward an era of forest industry," with the slogan "Forests as assets, forestry as industry."
The program includes an opening ceremony, commendations for distinguished contributions to forest management, special lectures on forest policy and related fields, and networking sessions for members.
The conference is being held in Andong, a city that has suffered major wildfire damage. Participants will share forest management experience and information gathered in the field and discuss ways to enhance the economic and public value of forests in response to a changing forest environment.
"I hope this conference will bring together the experience and wisdom of forest managers from across the country, raise the value of our forests, and serve as an opportunity to spread sustainable forest management practices," Andong Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said.
