Regional middle-aged employment network expands from 15 to 37 areas this year
Tailored career support events will be held across the country to help middle-aged workers find new jobs and change careers. The events will introduce employment opportunities tied to local industries and offer a range of services including career counseling, work experience and vocational training.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced Sunday that it will run the 21st Middle-Aged Employment Emphasis Week from Monday through Oct. 2. This year's slogan is "Connecting regions, growing the middle-aged workforce."
The events will be centered on employment centers and middle-aged career support centers nationwide, helping workers in that age group find new positions and continue building their careers in line with each region's industrial characteristics and labor demand.
The Seoul Middle-Aged Career Support Center will hold a job concert Thursday focused on the tourism sector, titled "A Second Career: Finding Answers in Tourism — Restart Tourism Job Concert." The Busan Middle-Aged Career Support Center is set to host a job briefing Friday on maritime employment, specifically covering the role of yard tractor operators.
Special lectures on AI applications and video editing will also be offered to help middle-aged workers develop new skills.
The regional middle-aged employment network, which provides comprehensive locally tailored employment services, will expand from a pilot program covering 15 areas last year to 37 areas this year.
A commemorative ceremony organized by the Korea Labor Foundation will be held Wednesday at Luna Miele Grand Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Choe Myeong-cheol, selected as an outstanding individual case in middle-aged employment, and maritime construction firm Haeyangongsa, recognized in the corporate category, are set to receive the Ministry of Employment and Labor minister's award and present their cases.
