Torc is the brand's fourth model, making its world debut in London
888 hp, 137.7 kgf·m peak torque, 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds
Up to 600 km on a single charge (WLTP); 400 kW ultra-fast charging
10–80% charge in 16 minutes; 7 minutes of charging yields 161 km of range
Bentley Motors announced Thursday that it unveiled the Torc — the brand's first all-electric urban luxury SUV — at a world premiere in London. The Torc joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga as the fourth model in Bentley's product portfolio and marks the brand's first fully battery-electric vehicle.
In terms of design, the Torc adopts a bold new design language that carries Bentley's DNA forward, resulting in an SUV with a low, sleek silhouette. Its long wheelbase, short overhangs and upright front fascia create a commanding presence that embodies what Bentley calls "vertical elegance," a core design principle of the brand. The "endless bonnet" design cue is layered on top, accentuating the car's length and presence while delivering an instantly recognizable Bentley character.
Inside, the dashboard draws inspiration from the Bentley wing emblem, emphasizing symmetry, power and balance while allowing the natural textures and beauty of each material — leather, wool, veneer and aluminum — to come through via bold yet clean surface treatments. Physical buttons are retained on the center console and steering wheel for key functions requiring intuitive operation, preserving the tactile experience that is a hallmark of the brand.
The seats feature 16-way power adjustment along with heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and a new massage function. An optional "posture adjustment" feature and "Smart Seat Climate" system continuously adapt seat shape, pressure distribution, heating and ventilation during long journeys to maximize comfort. Choosing the wellness seat specification extends the massage zone from the backrest down to the seat cushion, covering the back, shoulders and legs. The rear accommodates a three-seat bench with power-folding capability — a first for Bentley.
The Torc is powered by a high-voltage battery pack comprising 192 lithium-ion pouch cells connected in series. The rated voltage is 800V and the total net capacity is 113 kWh. The battery carries a warranty of 100,000 miles (approximately 161,600 km) or 10 years.
The Torc offers a maximum WLTP range of 600 km on a single charge, ensuring confidence on long-distance drives. Using 400 kW rapid charging, the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes, and a mere 7 minutes of charging delivers 161 km of range.
The Torc also comes with Bentley's first fully active suspension and adaptive two-valve dampers, delivering a comfortable ride while allowing broad adjustment of chassis characteristics across driving modes. Each damper responds instantly to road conditions and driver inputs, controlling the body independently to optimize ride quality and body control. Electronic all-wheel steering is standard on every Torc, turning the rear wheels by up to 5 degrees; the turning circle is just 11.1 meters.
The latest advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) make driving and parking easier and more intuitive. Twenty-five radars, sensors and cameras mounted on the vehicle continuously monitor the surrounding environment and gather all the data needed for interaction. On a narrow road blocked by an obstacle, for example, the car can automatically reverse to a point it has already mapped, clearing space to pass.
Assistance systems support towing, garage parking and parallel parking while protecting the wheels from damage, and remote parking via a smartphone app is also available. Drivers can even teach the car a precise parking maneuver. All four doors feature radar-based power opening and closing, allowing them to open and shut on their own; occupants can also close the doors by fastening their seatbelts or using the main touchscreen, and the driver can close the driver's door by pressing the brake pedal.
Bentley has also developed a bespoke sound design spanning everything from a quiet idle to full-throttle acceleration. Rather than simply mimicking engine noise, the human-performed sounds give the driver auditory feedback that reinforces a sense of connection with the car. The turn-signal sound, for instance, was recorded directly in Bentley's leather workshop — the sound of a hammer striking a leather surface.
Beyond the drive and function sounds, the Torc offers two audio specifications. The standard system comprises 16 speakers producing 620W of output. An optional 28-speaker, 1,780W system co-developed with Naim is also available. The Naim audio system supports tactile feedback through the seats, front headrest speakers and Dolby Atmos 7.1.
The Torc comes in two specifications: a standard model and the Torc S. The standard model produces 821 hp and 121.7 kgf·m of peak torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. The Torc S, with launch control engaged, delivers 888 hp and 137.7 kgf·m (1,350 Nm) of peak torque, hits 100 km/h from a standstill in 2.9 seconds and tops out at 260 km/h.
Bentley Motors Chairman and CEO Frank-Steffen Wallisar introduced the Torc at the premiere, saying, "The Torc is, above all else, a Bentley." He added, "It harmoniously blends Bentley's heritage with cutting-edge innovation, underpinned by the skilled hands of our craftspeople, the finest materials and advanced technology, and I am convinced it is one of the greatest models in Bentley's history."
Meanwhile, as global luxury automakers roll out flagship electric SUVs in quick succession, competition in the high-end electric vehicle segment is set to intensify. Genesis, South Korea's leading luxury brand, plans to launch both the GV90 and the GV90 Neolun — the brand's first full-size flagship electric SUVs — in the domestic market before the end of this year.
The GV90 Neolun in particular is expected to compete directly with top-tier luxury brands, featuring the world's first independently opening hidden B-pillar coach doors — dubbed the "Neolun Arch Gate" — along with an "Executive Suite" four-seat VIP lounge configuration.
Porsche, meanwhile, gave the world its first look at the all-electric Cayenne Electric last November and the coupe-derived Cayenne Coupe Electric in April, with both models set for domestic launch in the second half of this year. Prices in South Korea are expected to range from 140 million to 190 million won.
