200 bags of rice (10 kg each) delivered to seven social welfare facilities; Assembly Speaker Yoo Ji-woong says the council will continue to show love for neighbors through community engagement
The Seocho-gu Council delivered 200 bags of Naju premium rice (10 kg each) to social welfare facilities in the district ahead of chuseok, in a gesture of community giving.
Council members visited Banpo General Social Welfare Center on Monday and Umyeon General Social Welfare Center on Tuesday, personally handing over the rice and listening to staff on the ground.
Donations were also sent to several other welfare facilities in the district, including the Seocho-gu Municipal Day Care Center, Saebit Paul's House, Sinmangae House, Daniel Welfare Center and the Korea Agent Orange Veterans Association.
The donated rice will be distributed to more than 100 low-income households as well as elderly people without family support, people with disabilities and other marginalized groups. The Naju premium rice is freshly harvested grain sourced through an MOU Seocho-gu and Naju signed in 2022, adding significance to the donation as an expression of inter-regional cooperation and neighborly care.
"We hope that these small acts of warmth will come together so that all residents can enjoy a rich and happy holiday," Assembly Speaker Yoo Ji-woong said. "We will continue to look after those around us so that no neighbor is left behind, and carry out our duties with a warm heart."
