Broadcaster MC Dingdong has returned to television six months after stepping back from public life following a controversy over his assault of a female BJ.

On Tuesday, MC Dingdong posted several photos on his social media with the short caption "Return, comeback!" signaling his resumption of activities.

The photos showed him on stage holding a microphone at the recording of SBS Life entertainment show "The Trot Show," as well as reading a script in a waiting room.

Other photos showed him posing with "The Trot Show" cast members, singers Hong Ja and Kang Ye-seul.

The controversy erupted in March when, during a live broadcast on an internet streaming platform, a female BJ brought up MC Dingdong's past drunk-driving incident. He lost his temper and grabbed her by the hair. MC Dingdong subsequently issued a public apology. "I failed to control my emotions in the moment and showed an unsightly side of myself," he said. "There is no excuse for what I did — it was clearly my fault."

MC Dingdong made his debut in 2007 as a ninth-round open-recruitment comedian at SBS and has since worked as an MC at various events. In 2022, a court sentenced him to one year and six months in prison, suspended for two years, after he fled a police traffic stop while driving drunk.
