From the Chuseok holiday through closing day
The organizing committee of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is running a "Find the Treasure" event across four exhibition halls at the main venue in Dolsan-eup from Thursday through closing day on Nov. 4, in celebration of Chuseok.
Each of the four halls holds one hidden treasure. The "Theme Island" hall features 47 dol hareubang — the iconic stone figures of Jeju — symbolizing cultural exchange between Jeju and Yeosu, while the "Marine Ecology Island" hall displays wooden folk crafts depicting the lifestyle of people from Palau, a small island nation in the western Pacific.
The "Culture Island" hall showcases a boat model made from whalebone, and the "Future Island" hall features a traditional Omani vessel called a "shasha," used to connect islands around the world. All four artifacts tie into the expo's overarching theme of islands, the sea and boats.
To participate, visitors must go to all four halls and take a selfie in front of each artifact. Once all four photos are collected, they can visit the permanent experience booth behind Treasure Island, show the photos to a staff member and receive a commemorative gift.
The event runs daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will end early on any given day once supplies run out. It will not operate on the expo's designated closure day, Oct. 6.
An expo organizing committee official described the event as "experiential content that lets children naturally encounter stories about islands around the world, island cultures, the sea and the future through the familiar game of treasure hunting during the Chuseok holiday."
