Travel destinations unveiled on 'Corners of Korea'

This chuseok, cultural experiences blending past and present — from traditional performances to augmented-reality play — will be on offer across the country.

The Korea Tourism Organization said Wednesday it has recommended domestic travel destinations for the chuseok holiday through its "Corners of Korea" platform. The content is designed to give visitors of all generations a single overview of tourist sites, cultural events and hands-on programs suitable for the holiday period.

Featured destinations include Yeongneung and Nyeongneung in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, where visitors can explore the history of the Joseon Dynasty; the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, which is hosting a special exhibition of Korean contemporary art; the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum in Bonghwa, North Gyeongsang Province; and the Deogyu Mountain National Recreation Forest in Muju, North Jeolla Province.

A range of cultural events and programs have also been lined up to add to the holiday atmosphere. The 2026 Namsangol Chuseok Festival at Namsangol Hanok Village, running Friday through Sunday, will offer traditional performances, holiday activities, folk crafts and food. At the Asia Culture Center Foundation, the "Boreumdal Asia" program will feature augmented-reality play, puppet shows and circus performances for children. A link to the Korea Culture Information Service's Culture Portal calendar has also been provided so visitors can browse chuseok events taking place nationwide.
