Hanssem targets long renovation burden with modular kitchens, bathrooms and storage units
A growing number of homeowners are choosing to renovate while staying put — a trend the industry has dubbed "stay-modeling."
More than half of all apartments nationwide — 56.7 percent — are at least 20 years old. With both new housing construction and residential moves on the decline, more people are opting to upgrade the homes they already live in.
Renovating an occupied home, however, comes with real drawbacks: noise, dust and lengthy construction periods. The interior industry has responded by developing stay-modeling — an approach designed to cut construction time and minimize disruption to daily life.
Hanssem has been at the forefront of this shift, rolling out partial renovation packages for kitchens, bathrooms and storage spaces that have drawn strong customer interest. Its EasyBath 5, a bathroom product that can be installed in two days while residents remain in the home, saw sales grow 3.8 times in the two months after its February launch. Sales of the company's kitchen brands, Kitchenbach and Euro, rose 29 percent year-on-year, while its Signature storage furniture line posted a 7 percent sales increase.
Among renovation projects, bathroom work has traditionally been one of the most disruptive — involving waterproofing, plumbing and tile work that typically takes at least four days and often more than a week. Hanssem's EasyBath line uses standardized modular components and streamlined installation processes to complete the job in two days, even in an occupied home, earning wide praise from customers.
The company plans to expand its partial renovation product lineup in line with the stay-modeling trend, focusing on making it easier for customers to improve specific areas of their homes without committing to a full-scale renovation.
"We have introduced a standardized quoting and scheduling system so customers can estimate costs and timelines in advance," a company official said. "We are also focused on delivering consistent installation quality through our nationwide service network."
