Hyeonsuk, a participant from Season 22 of the reality dating show "Naneun Solo," revealed that her ex-husband had beaten her so severely that one of her organs ruptured. Her current boyfriend, Gwangsu from Season 16, sparked conflict by saying he could "see why she got hit."

The two appeared Monday on JTBC's entertainment program "Love War," having begun dating after appearing together on a "Naneun Solo" special edition for divorced singles.

Hyeonsuk disclosed what she described as a reason for her divorce that few people knew and that she had not revealed on "Naneun Solo." "My ex-husband was violent," she said. "He beat me so badly that an organ ruptured."

Hyeonsuk said her boyfriend knew how much pain and hardship she had endured, but that during an argument he had told her, "Your ex-husband must have done that because you did something wrong" and "I can see why you got hit." She said the remarks left her devastated. "After hearing that, I felt like I was losing my mind, so I told him I wanted to break up," she said.

When the host asked whether he had actually said those things, Gwangsu admitted it, explaining that he had intended it as "mirroring" — reflecting her own attitude back at her to prompt self-reflection.

Hyeonsuk also said she had begun seeing a psychiatrist since starting her relationship with Gwangsu. "I am taking psychiatric medication that I did not even take when I was going through my divorce," she said, in tears. "I was much brighter and healthier before I met him."

Broadcaster Seo Jang-hoon, who watched the couple's conflict unfold, said, "Does a relationship really have to be like this? I cannot see a single reason for them to keep seeing each other." Singer Lee Hyori also told them to break up quickly.

By the end of the episode, however, the two chose to reconcile. Gwangsu reflected on his behavior, saying a Korean proverb about the power of a single kind word had come to mind and he had asked himself why he had been unable to do that. Hyeonsuk said she felt she had not been putting in enough effort for the relationship and wanted to try once more.
