Drive aims to ease youth unemployment and expand job opportunities

Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) said Tuesday it will begin accepting applications for 235 entry-level positions — grade 5 and grade 6 — in the second half of this year. The corporation said it is proceeding with the additional hiring to secure personnel for housing stability, even after already recruiting more than 1,000 employees in the first half of this year.

The recruitment, announced Sept. 15, covers 211 grade-5 and 24 grade-6 positions, for a total of 235 hires. By job category, LH will take on 74 administrative staff and 161 technical staff.

There are no restrictions on education, age or work experience, though applicants for some grade-5 technical and administrative roles must hold a relevant engineer-level qualification. Grade-6 applicants must have completed, or be expected to complete, high school as their highest level of education.

To improve fairness in evaluation and reduce the burden on job seekers, the document screening stage will rely solely on quantitative criteria such as language test scores and certifications. Personal statements will be required only from candidates who pass the written exam and will serve as reference material during subsequent interviews.

LH will also recruit veterans and people with disabilities as separate applicant pools in line with legally mandated employment ratios, to strengthen the effectiveness of its equitable hiring practices and support the stable entry of employment-vulnerable groups into the workforce.

Applications will be accepted from Tuesday through Monday. A written exam is scheduled for Oct. 25, followed by interviews in November, with final candidates to be selected in December and appointed as paid interns before the end of the year.

LH has been conducting large-scale recruitment of new employees and youth interns to ease youth unemployment and strengthen job readiness among young people.

Last year, the corporation hired 472 grade-5 and grade-6 new employees, 170 grade-7 (indefinite-contract) new employees, and 826 experiential youth interns. In the first half of this year, it also recruited 262 grade-5 and grade-6 new employees, 187 grade-7 new employees, and 820 youth interns.

"This is a critical period in which we must concentrate all our capabilities to implement the government's housing supply expansion policy without disruption and realize residential stability for the public," LH President Lee Seong-hun said. "We plan to hire talented professionals to inject vitality into the field and accelerate housing supply."
