The Dalseong Cultural Foundation in Daegu announced Tuesday that it will hold the "2026 Dalseong 100 Pianos" event at Samunjin Ferry on Oct. 3.

Selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Local 100" program, Dalseong 100 Pianos has established itself as a distinctive cultural brand representing South Korea. This year, the event will expand across the entire Samunjin waterfront, transforming it into a wide-ranging arts and culture space.

The program will offer a variety of performances and hands-on activities during the day, culminating in a nighttime concert featuring 100 pianos.

Pianist Kim Jeong-won, serving as artistic director, will lead the event alongside part leaders Kim Hong-gi, Park Yeon-min and Jeong Han-bin, with 96 pianists selected through auditions rounding out the ensemble.

This year's program includes a special performance titled "4 Pianos and 16 Hands," featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, "Fate."

On top of that, the Dalseong Piano Festival Orchestra, conducted by Kim Gwang-hyeon, will perform celebrated works by Elgar, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky.

Jazz pianist Jo Yun-seong Quartet and jazz vocalist Woong San will also take the stage, followed by a set from the duo Melomance.

Dalseong Cultural Foundation Chairman Choi Jae-hun said he hopes audiences will "come and feel firsthand the powerful emotion of classical, jazz and popular music coming together as one melody at the height of autumn."
