North Gyeongsang Province, Gyeongju City and the Gyeongju Culture Foundation will hold the 2026 Munmu Daewang Festival at the Munmu Daewang Marine History Museum in Gampo-eup, Gyeongju, on Oct. 3 and 4, the organizers announced Tuesday.
The two-day festival will feature a documentary screening, a history lecture, a special performance and a music festival.
On the first day, organizers will screen "Daewang, Munmu," a documentary produced by Pohang MBC, starting at 3 p.m., followed by a lecture by Lee Ik-ju, a history professor at the University of Seoul, on King Munmu's unification of the Three Kingdoms.
That evening, a special performance combining traditional Korean music and theatrical elements, based on the legend of the Manpasikjeok — a mythical flute — will take the stage.
On the second day, a music festival will bring together performances spanning classical, jazz and indie genres.
Organizers will also run a history quiz show with audience participation, hands-on activities and a food zone to give residents and tourists a range of things to enjoy.
Admission is free.
