Recruits to cover patent, utility model, trademark and design examination as well as special judicial police roles, bolstering review expertise and investigative capacity
South Korea's intellectual property agency is expanding its roster of specialist investigators to better protect the rights of businesses, individuals and the nation.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office announced Monday it will competitively recruit 41 experienced professionals across the patent, utility model, trademark and design fields.
The hiring plan calls for 27 patent and utility model examiners, 10 trademark and design examiners and four special judicial police officers. In the patent and utility model track, the agency will bring on experts in advanced technologies — including AI, biotech and secondary batteries — as Grade 6 general-service examiners to strengthen its review capacity. The special judicial police positions will be filled by lawyers and candidates with prior investigative experience to sharpen the agency's ability to pursue technology theft and trademark infringement cases.
Applications will be accepted from Sept. 28 through Oct. 2. Full details on eligible fields, qualification requirements and how to apply are available on the agency's website and on the Ministry of Personnel Management's Narailteo job portal.
The agency said it will apply objective and fair evaluation criteria at every stage of the selection process — including document screening and interviews — in accordance with the State Public Officials Act, the Public Officials Appointment Decree and other relevant regulations, ensuring all applicants have an equal opportunity to compete.
"Through this recruitment, we will secure qualified examiners and deliver faster, more accurate examination services," agency chief Kim Yong-seon said. "We will also strengthen the investigative expertise of our special judicial police to protect the valuable intellectual property of our companies and establish a fair market order."
