A total of 110 hospitals and pharmacies will remain open in Wonju during the Chuseok holiday.
The Wonju Public Health Center surveyed all medical institutions and pharmacies operating during the holiday to prevent gaps in care and emergency room overcrowding, and to minimize inconvenience for residents. The results have been posted on the Wonju city and public health center websites, as well as the national emergency medical portal.
Wonju will operate an emergency medical care system from Thursday through Sunday. The city hopes that patients with minor symptoms will use nearby open clinics rather than emergency rooms, easing congestion and ensuring that critical and emergency patients receive appropriate care.
Information on open medical institutions and pharmacies during the holiday is available on the websites of the Wonju Public Health Center, the emergency medical portal and the Health and Welfare Counseling Center. Residents can also call 129 or 119 for consultations and emergency reports.
Meanwhile, Woori Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Clinic, designated as Wonju's Dalbit Children's Hospital, will close only on Friday — Chuseok Day itself — and operate as usual on all other days of the holiday.
"We will ensure the emergency medical care system runs smoothly throughout the Chuseok holiday so that residents can access the medical services they need," a Wonju city official said. "We ask that those with minor symptoms check for nearby open medical facilities before heading to an emergency room."
