Launch ceremony held at Nonghyup Distribution's Yangjae store; products include cuts, bulgogi, soup and extract
Unified brand aims to boost quality competitiveness and expand stable sales channels for domestic goat meat
Agriculture ministry pledges support to broaden consumer base and return profits to farmers
South Korea has launched a unified brand for domestic goat meat called "Nonghyup Goat," aimed at raising quality competitiveness and expanding sales channels. The brand brings together a range of products — from fresh cuts to bulgogi, soup and extract — under a single label.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said Park Jeong-hun, director general for food policy, attended the official launch ceremony Monday at Nonghyup Distribution's Yangjae store in Seoul.
The Nonghyup Goat brand was created to strengthen the competitiveness of domestically produced goat meat and secure more stable distribution outlets. The ceremony was attended by officials from Nonghyup's livestock economy and distribution divisions, as well as heads of regional agricultural cooperatives.
At the event, the unified brand was formally declared and a variety of products were showcased, including goat cuts, goat bulgogi, goat soup and goat extract. Tasting sessions, giveaways and promotional activities were also held for consumers.
The government said it plans to use the brand launch as an opportunity to strengthen the domestic goat industry's competitiveness and broaden its consumer base.
"Today's launch is not simply about creating a new brand — it is a new beginning that puts a name to the sweat of our goat farmers and adds trust to domestic goat meat," Park said. "The government will actively support efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic goat industry and expand its consumer base, so that the goats our farmers have raised with care are properly valued in the market and that effort is returned as income to farming households."
