Kim Seung-won, the nominee for justice minister, will hold a press conference Saturday morning.

The Democratic Party of Korea announced that Kim's press conference will take place at 11 a.m. at the National Assembly's communication hall.

With allegations mounting — including claims that he lobbied for clinical trial approvals of new drugs — attention is focused on whether Kim will use the conference to announce his position on his nomination.

Earlier, the Democratic Party pushed through the adoption of a confirmation hearing report on Kim at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee on Thursday, following the conclusion of his confirmation hearing, but public opposition to his appointment has not subsided.

President Lee Jae Myung addressed the matter at a press conference held at Cheong Wa Dae's banquet hall on Friday, saying he had "not yet reached a final conclusion" and would "make a careful decision taking into account the many issues and criticisms that have arisen in the process, as well as his capabilities and the expectations of the public."
