Singer Chungha was rushed to an emergency room Friday due to a health issue, forcing her to cancel a scheduled performance at a Gyeonggi University festival. Her agency said she is currently receiving treatment.

More Vision, Chungha's agency, released a statement Friday saying that "in the early hours of today, our artist Chungha was transported to an emergency room due to a health issue and is currently receiving treatment there."

The agency added that she would be unable to appear at the Gwirong Festival at Gyeonggi University's Seoul campus, which had been scheduled for Friday.

More Vision offered its "sincere apologies to Gyeonggi University officials and students who were looking forward to the performance for the sudden news and any inconvenience caused."

The agency said it would "do its utmost to help the artist recover as quickly as possible," and added that while Chungha could not be there in person, it "sincerely hopes the Gwirong Festival wraps up safely and joyfully."

Earlier Friday, the student council of Gyeonggi University's College of Tourism and Culture also announced the cancellation on Instagram.

"In the early hours of today, artist Chungha was transported to an emergency room due to a health issue and is currently still receiving treatment there," the council said, adding that her performance "will unfortunately not be able to proceed as planned."

"We are truly sorry to deliver such sudden news to fellow students who were looking forward to the performance," the council said, wishing Chungha a speedy recovery.

Chungha made her debut in 2016 as a member of project group I.O.I through Season 1 of Mnet's talent show "Produce 101." After the group disbanded, she launched her solo career in June 2017 with her first mini-album "Hands on Me," going on to score hits including "Why Don't You Know," "Roller Coaster" and "Gotta Go."

In October 2023, Chungha signed an exclusive contract with More Vision, the agency headed by singer Jay Park, and released tracks including "Eenie Meenie," "Algorithm" and "Stress." Her contract with More Vision is set to expire Monday.
