Jockey Jang Chu-yeol, who competes at Korea Racing Authority's LetsRun Park Seoul, has reached the milestone of 600 career victories.
Jang secured his 600th career win Sunday, riding Last K to first place in the fourth race at LetsRun Park Seoul — a Grade 5 national race over 1,200 meters.
Starting from gate No. 3, Jang and Last K ran a composed race and crossed the finish line 1¼ lengths ahead of the second-place horse.
Since his debut in 2010, Jang has consistently built his win total. He recorded his 400th career win in October 2023, followed by his 500th in March last year, and reached 600 roughly a year and a half later. Last year he posted 76 wins in a single season, a new personal record.
At the time of his 600th win, his career record stood at 600 wins, 576 second-place finishes and 566 third-place finishes from 5,146 starts, with a win rate of 11.7 percent, a place rate of 22.9 percent and a show rate of 33.9 percent. This year he has already entered 297 races and notched 44 wins. Now in his 16th year since debuting, Jang sets his sights on 700 career victories.
"Lately I've been getting the chance to ride a lot of good horses, and that makes me feel I need to perform even better," he said. "I'll do my best to work things out on the track and make sure I don't disappoint the fans."
