Donation worth 1 million won delivered to Cheongju Haeoruem Village

Agency pledges continued social contribution including career and employment support

The Korea Employment Information Service said Thursday it visited Cheongju Haeoruem Village, a mother-child protection facility in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and delivered donated goods worth 1 million won ($731) ahead of the chuseok holiday.

The event was organized to provide practical assistance to single-parent families and promote a culture of sharing within the local community. The handover ceremony was attended by Korea Employment Information Service President Lee Chang-su, labor union chairman Lee Dong-hwan and staff from Cheongju Haeoruem Village.

Earlier this year, the agency held two sessions at the facility offering career counseling, employment support and job-stress consultations for residents. It has also run a youth employment support program at Chungnam National University and a local study-room support project. The agency plans to hold a parenting lecture concert in the innovation city Oct. 21-22.

"I hope this brings a small measure of comfort and encouragement to the mothers raising children on their own, and to their children," President Lee said. "We will continue to grow alongside the local community through sustained social contribution activities."
