BNK Credit Information donated 5 million won ($3,690) to the Geoje Small Business Owners Association ahead of the chuseok holiday to help flood-affected small-business owners in the Geoje area recover, the company said Thursday. The handover ceremony, held Tuesday, was attended by representatives from BNK Credit Information, Busan Bank's Geoje Gohyeon branch, Kyongnam Bank's Geoje Gohyeon branch and the Geoje Financial Center.

The donation was raised to support local small-business owners who suffered business losses — including flooded storefronts — from heavy rains in August and have struggled to rebuild. The funds are to be used for facility repairs and the purchase of supplies needed to resume operations.

BNK Credit Information has held an annual holiday charity event since 2016, providing support to diligent debt repayers and vulnerable residents in the region.

"This year, we extended a warm hand of sharing to small-business owners in the area who are struggling in the wake of the floods," said Shin Tae-su, chief executive of BNK Credit Information. "We hope this donation will help them return to their livelihoods as soon as possible."
