Yeongdeungpo Traditional Market offers up to 20,000 won in Onuri gift voucher cashback on domestic produce purchases; Nam Seoul Shopping Arcade hosts traditional games festival with coupon giveaways
Yeongdeungpo-gu will hold special Chuseok events at Yeongdeungpo Traditional Market and Nam Seoul Shopping Arcade ahead of the upcoming holiday.
The district aims to draw residents to traditional markets, where holiday table staples can be purchased at reasonable prices, easing the burden on household budgets while boosting the local alley economy.
Through Sunday, Yeongdeungpo Traditional Market will run an Onuri gift voucher cashback promotion, returning up to 30 percent of a purchase amount — capped at 20,000 won ($15) per person — in Onuri gift vouchers.
Shoppers who buy domestic agricultural, livestock or seafood products — including domestically caught or deep-sea fish — are eligible for cashback on a tiered basis: purchases of 34,000 won or more but under 67,000 won receive 10,000 won back, while purchases of 67,000 won or more receive 20,000 won. The cashback counter operates from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Customers must bring their receipt and a form of identification. Imported seafood and purchases made with Zero Pay seafood festival vouchers are excluded from the promotion.
On Tuesday, Nam Seoul Shopping Arcade will host a traditional games festival bringing together residents and merchants. The yutnori board game is played in pairs, with the winning team receiving a 10,000 won arcade-exclusive coupon and the losing team a 5,000 won coupon. For jegi-chagi — a traditional shuttlecock-kicking game — participants earn a 5,000 won coupon for a single kick, while those who manage 10 or more consecutive kicks take home a 20,000 won coupon, adding to the festive spirit.
A customer appreciation event will also be held for shoppers. Those spending 50,000 won or more will receive a 10,000 won Onuri gift voucher, while those spending between 30,000 won and 50,000 won will receive a towel worth 5,000 won.
The arcade will also share Chuseok songpyeon rice cakes with all visiting residents, spreading the generous spirit of the holiday season.
"Traditional markets are the best place to feel the true atmosphere of a holiday," Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin said. "I hope residents will prepare for the holiday wisely at our markets, full of great deals and warm community spirit, and enjoy a joyful Chuseok."
