Ulju-gun in Ulsan opened a new annex of its Western Disability Welfare Center on Tuesday to expand welfare services for people with disabilities in the western part of the county.

The opening ceremony was held in the third-floor auditorium of the annex, with Ulju-gun County Chief Lee Sun-geol, Ulju-gun Council Chairman Jeong Woo-sik, National Assembly member Seo Beom-su, and city and county council members in attendance.

The annex was built on a 2,198-square-meter site at 1499-168 Gyodong-ri, Samnam-eup, Ulju-gun, at a cost of 14.6 billion won ($10.9 million). The building has one below-ground and three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 3,212 square meters.

Key facilities include program rooms, language, art, music and psychology activity rooms, a branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association's Ulju-gun chapter, and an auditorium.

"The opening of the new annex will allow residents with disabilities in the area to enjoy better welfare services," County Chief Lee said. "We will continue to expand facilities and welfare programs to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities."
