Ulsan's Buk-gu will reorganize its administrative structure effective Oct. 1, marking the first reshuffle since the launch of the ninth elected term.

The overhaul creates a new industrial innovation division, an AI innovation team and a life-respect team, expanding the existing structure of one office, 24 divisions and 94 teams to one office, 25 divisions and 97 teams. The authorized headcount will also increase from 701 to 727.

The existing economy and jobs division will be split into two units — an economy and jobs division and a newly established industrial innovation division. The new division will handle industrial policy, corporate investment, labor-management cooperation, emerging industry development, AI transformation of manufacturing and efforts to attract business investment, taking charge of Buk-gu's broader future industrial strategy.

An AI innovation team will be added to the media and information division to drive innovation through generative AI and data-based administration. A life-respect team will also be established within the integrated care division to strengthen suicide prevention and solitary-death prevention functions.

Buk-gu District Mayor Lee Dong-kwon said the reorganization was aimed at fulfilling the core campaign pledges of the ninth elected term and strengthening resident-centered administration.
