The Korea Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) announced Tuesday that it won the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy minister's award in the private investment promotion category at the 2026 Industrial Complex Structural Upgrade Awards, held Monday.

The awards are hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to identify and promote outstanding cases of structural upgrade projects that transform aging industrial complexes into future-oriented innovation spaces based on the "4X" framework. The 4X concept refers to four transitions: AI transformation, eco-friendly transformation, generational transformation and new-industry transformation.

HUG earned the recognition by providing fund loans for mixed-use redevelopment projects — combining industrial, office and retail functions — in industrial complex regeneration zones, while also guaranteeing private loans used in those projects. The support lowered financing costs for project operators and strengthened the momentum of redevelopment efforts.

According to HUG, the seven fund project sites involved a total of 347.9 billion won ($259 million) in loans and 318.2 billion won in guarantees.

"This award is the result of our efforts to improve aging industrial complexes and fulfill our responsibility for balanced regional development," HUG President Choi In-ho said. "We will continue to provide tailored financial support to build a sustainable industrial complex ecosystem."
