The Department of Photography and Visual Media at Gyeongil University will hold its first joint exhibition with the Simhae Cultural Foundation, titled "FIRST CONTACT 2026."

The exhibition runs from Tuesday through Oct. 16 at Ajin Hall in Alpha City, Suseong-gu — a span of roughly one month. During the first two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, the event will run in conjunction with the "2026 Suseong Alpha City Days" festival, featuring both exhibition displays and hands-on programs.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The joint exhibition began as a small-scale display and experience program timed to coincide with the Suseong Alpha City Days festival. As the partnership between the Simhae Cultural Foundation and the photography department deepened, it expanded in both duration and scope into the two institutions' first joint curatorial project.

Particularly during the "2026 Suseong Alpha City Days" on Tuesday and Wednesday, visitors can take part in interactive programs alongside the artwork displays, including an AI photo booth and caricature drawing.

Kim Shin-wook, a professor in the Department of Photography and Visual Media, said the exhibition is intended to go beyond simply sharing students' creative work with the local community. "We hope this becomes a starting point where different fields — ceramics, photography, video and AI — come together to develop new content and cultural and artistic activities," he said.
