Police are reviewing whether to apply sexual assault charges against a teenager who broke into an elementary school classroom, put bodily fluid into a female teacher's tumbler and fled.

The Seogwipo Police Station is examining the legal grounds for adding sex crime charges against high school student A, who has already been booked on charges of trespassing and property damage, according to News1.

A is accused of breaking into a classroom at an elementary school in Seogwipo, Jeju, on April 28, putting bodily fluid into the tumbler of teacher B and running away.

About a month later, on June 5, A allegedly broke into B's classroom again, urinated on the teacher's chair and fled.

A admitted to all charges during police questioning but said he committed the acts after heading to the bathroom, according to investigators.

Police had previously refrained from applying sex crime charges, pursuing only property damage, because current law provides insufficient grounds to prosecute a sex crime when there is no physical contact with the victim.

Police are continuing their investigation into A on charges of trespassing and property damage.
