Geumcheon-gu will hold the 8th Geumcheon Science Festival over two days, Friday and Saturday, at and around the Geumcheon-gu District Office.

The annual festival gives residents a hands-on look at the latest science and technology, helping to spread a culture of science throughout the community.

This year's event runs under the slogan "A Vibrant Future Geumcheon in Conversation with AI," featuring more than 33 programs — exhibitions, hands-on experiences and performances — centered on AI, robotics and other cutting-edge fields.

At the district office plaza, visitors can create a personalized perfume designed by an AI fragrance system and get up close with the latest AI-powered machines, including the X2 humanoid robot and a quadruped robot dog. An AI self-playing piano installed in the district office lobby is also expected to draw attention.

In the 12th-floor auditorium, attendees can try "vibe coding" — a method in which users describe ideas or plans in everyday language and an AI system translates them into working code. The district hopes the experience will help young people explore science and technology as a path for their education and future careers.

Two G-Valley companies that participated in CES, the world's largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, will also showcase their products, giving visitors a glimpse of advanced technology making its way into daily life.

Families will find a full lineup of performances and exhibitions as well. The main stage at Sunken Plaza will host a science magic show, a bubble show, a science musical and youth club performances. Nearby, visitors can try an escape-room bus and a virtual reality motion simulator.

The festival's opening ceremony takes place Saturday at 11 a.m., featuring an AI-produced video on a virtual journey through Geumcheon's present and future as shaped by science and technology. Humanoid robots will also perform a dance showcase.

"We want to share the joy of science with our children through diverse content showcasing the latest in AI, robotics and other technologies, and help them chart a direction for their future," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "We have prepared a science festival that everyone in the community can enjoy, and we warmly invite residents to come and take part."
