Gwanak-gu wrapped up its signature local festival, "Youth Arcade Season 2," on Saturday at Sharosu-gil, one of the district's most vibrant commercial strips.

The event drew a broad mix of attendees — young people, families and couples alike — who turned out to enjoy the festivities.

The festival centered on a "game-style street fair" designed to capture Sharosu-gil's youthful, energetic character. Augmented-reality games playable via smartphone app and 13 types of hands-on game attractions lined the street, while crowd-participation events — including arm-wrestling and a speed beer-drinking contest — kept the atmosphere lively.

A marching band paraded through Sharosu-gil, adding a burst of energy to the celebration. Musical numbers and busking performances followed, giving visitors of all ages plenty to see and enjoy.

Visitors who collected enough stamps by completing games and missions throughout the street received mobile discount coupons redeemable at shops in the area. Those who presented a receipt showing a purchase of 10,000 won ($7) or more at a Sharosu-gil store could also take part in receipt-verification experiences — including a personal color analysis, a one-minute caricature drawing and calligraphy — adding another layer of fun to the day.
