Victim airlifted by helicopter but could not be saved

A man in his 50s died Saturday after being stung by bees while tending a grave in Gangwon Province, fire authorities said.

According to fire authorities, the accident occurred at around 1:42 p.m. Saturday near Dungdungjae Valley on Nokmoksan in Sabuk-ri, Sabuk-eup, Jeongseon-gun, when a 57-year-old man was stung while tending a grave.

Firefighters who responded found the man in cardiac arrest and airlifted him to a nearby hospital, but he died.

Police and fire authorities are questioning witnesses to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the accident.
