Yeungnam University College of Science and Technology held its "2026 YNC Chicken Festa" in the parking lot in front of the campus social hall on Wednesday and Thursday.

The event was organized to celebrate the university's achievement of ranking first in the National Customer Satisfaction Index for junior college education services for 13 consecutive years — the first institution of its kind in the country to do so.

The student welfare office ran the festa from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. so that students could attend comfortably after finishing their regular classes.

Chicken, non-alcoholic beer and other beverages were served to enrolled students, professors and staff.

The YNC Chicken Festa carried added significance beyond a simple food event — it put the university's student-centered educational philosophy and the value of communication among its members into practice on campus.

Yeungnam University College of Science and Technology places student satisfaction at the core of its education and campus management, actively incorporating student needs and feedback into improvements to the learning environment, academic systems, welfare and facilities.

A flagship initiative is the "President's Meeting Week," a program in which President Lee Jae-yong shares meals with students and listens directly to their views on academics, career paths, employment, welfare and campus life.

During Meeting Week, Lee engages with students in candid, informal conversation, and concerns and suggestions raised on the spot are reviewed by the relevant departments and reflected in university operations.

The YNC Chicken Festa was organized as an extension of this student engagement policy. It was designed to give students time to rest and recharge, and to bring members together across departments and year groups to strengthen a sense of belonging and community.

"We will continue to listen more closely to students' voices and steadily expand our student-centered education services and support programs to deliver the education students are satisfied with, a campus they want to stay on, and a joyful and fulfilling university life," Lee said.
