The Daegu Happiness Foundation will hold the "2026 Daegu Literacy Month Declaration Ceremony and Poetry-Art Exhibition Awards" on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Daebak Plaza Prime Hall (10th floor) to mark World Literacy Day and promote the value of adult literacy education.
The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Daegu city government, with the National Institute for Lifelong Education and the Daegu Happiness Foundation serving as joint organizers. It was designed to celebrate the achievements of late-blooming learners who mastered hangul through a passion for learning, and to build broader public awareness of literacy education.
The program will open with the official declaration of the 2026 Daegu Literacy Month, followed by the poetry-art exhibition awards ceremony, a recitation of prize-winning poems, and a celebratory performance.
Seo Jun-hyeok, team leader of the Daegu Happiness Foundation's lifelong education project team, said the foundation deeply respects the learners who found the courage to pursue education. "We will all do our utmost to provide field-centered literacy education support so that the thread of learning is never cut," he said.
