Four winning entries to receive 500,000 won each
"Just 30 seconds is enough to fall in love with Hanam's charm."
Hanam city is opening a lighthearted challenge inviting residents to capture the city's hidden charm and everyday sparkle in playful, vertical-screen videos.
The city will hold the "2026 Hanam City Social Media Short-Form Video Contest (Hanam 30-Second Project - The Hanam I Captured)" through Oct. 8, aiming to discover sensibility-driven city branding content through the sharp eyes of its citizens.
The contest was designed to let residents wittily portray the many facets of Hanam they experience and enjoy in daily life, using trendy short-form formats such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
The theme is open, covering anything related to Hanam city — tourism, culture, festivals, hot spots and even policies residents feel the effects of in daily life.
Participants are free to show off their favorite spots and an exciting day spent in Hanam through 30 seconds of video magic — whether it is a barefoot walk along the "Misa Han River Sand Path" cooling off in the breeze, or a handy tip for catching the student shuttle bus that makes commutes to and from school easier.
Anyone with affection or interest in Hanam can enter, regardless of age, gender or region. Submissions must be vertical (9:16) full HD (1080x1920 pixels) MP4 videos between 30 and 60 seconds long. Entries must be original works filmed and produced by the applicant after Jan. 1 this year, though videos that make good use of generative AI tools for subtitle conversion, color correction or editing assistance are also welcome.
The entry process is simple, tailored to the tastes of the mobile generation. Applicants upload their video publicly to their personal YouTube (Shorts) or Instagram (Reels) account with the required hashtags (#Hanam30SecondProject, #TheHanamICaptured, @hanam_city), then scan the QR code on the promotional poster with their smartphone and submit the Naver Form application to complete registration.
Judging will proceed in two rounds: an initial screening for format compliance, followed by a second round that scores entries on popularity (40 points), creativity (25 points), completeness (20 points) and communicative impact (15 points). Real-time public response — including views, likes, comments and shares — carries the heaviest weight, so the city expects an enthusiastic response from creators with sharp ideas and a knack for going viral.
Winners will be announced through a fair judging process on the Hanam city website sometime in October or November. The four top entries selected, with no ranking distinction among them, will each receive 500,000 won ($374), for a total prize pool of 2 million won. The winning videos will then be used as flagship short-form content on Hanam's official social media channels to promote the city's charm.
"With just a smartphone, anyone can become a top creator showcasing Hanam," Hanam Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said. "I hope many 30-second videos filled with our citizens' cheerful spirit and creative ideas will be made."
Further details on the contest are available in the notices and announcements section of the Hanam city website, or by contacting the New Media Team under the Public Relations Office.
