Korea Maritime and Ocean University said Friday that it held the "2026 second-semester Samju Maritime Co. scholarship award ceremony" on Thursday.

University officials attended the ceremony, held at the university's main building, including Dean of Student Affairs Kim Kyung-hwa and Dean of the College of Maritime Sciences Park Young-soo. Also present were Samju Maritime Executive Director Lee Jae-il (a graduate of the 48th navigation class) and Samju SM Co. CEO Jung Jin-wook (a graduate of the 55th engineering class). Samju Maritime and Samju SM presented scholarship certificates to the recipients, expressing their support for the academic pursuits of College of Maritime Sciences students and encouragement for their future growth. Samju Maritime and Samju SM awarded a total of 10 million won ($7,470) in scholarships to five students.

Samju Maritime has provided scholarships to five College of Maritime Sciences students each semester since 2022. Including this round, a total of 50 students have received scholarships from the company, with cumulative support reaching 100 million won.

Samju Maritime was founded in July 2009 and focuses on transporting RORO cargo — including automobiles, heavy equipment, buses and trucks — as well as bulk cargo such as grain, coal, raw sugar and cement.
