Two organizations to combine resources and capabilities to develop community-tailored social contribution projects

Yongsan-gu in Seoul will expand social contribution projects for local residents in partnership with the Korea National Railway's Metropolitan Headquarters.

Yongsan-gu said it signed an MOU with the Korea National Railway's Metropolitan Headquarters on Thursday in the district office's central conference room to promote community welfare and strengthen social contribution activities.

The agreement aims to link the resources and capabilities of the two organizations to identify welfare projects the community needs and to pursue ongoing social contribution activities rather than one-off support.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate on job mentoring for young job seekers in Yongsan-gu, outings to tourism spots on idle railway sites for local veterans of national merit, and identifying, connecting and supporting other social contribution activities needed by the community.

Yongsan-gu will identify welfare needs and areas requiring support in the district, while the Korea National Railway's Metropolitan Headquarters will draw on its human and material resources and social contribution capabilities to support project implementation.

The two organizations plan to tailor projects to the needs of specific groups — particularly by offering job mentoring that draws on the corporation's expertise for young job seekers, and by arranging outings on idle railway sites for veterans of national merit.

Building on this agreement, the two organizations plan to continue identifying social contribution projects that local residents can genuinely feel the benefit of, and to broaden the scope of their cooperation.

"We hope this agreement will serve as an opportunity for mutually beneficial cooperation in which we consider and resolve various issues together with the community," said Lee Myung-seok, general manager of the Korea National Railway's Metropolitan Headquarters. "We will continue to expand social contribution activities that local residents can feel firsthand."
