Gangdong-gu will hold the "2026 Chuseok Sister City Specialty Products Direct Market" over two days from Sept. 17 to Sept. 18 at the open plaza of the Gangdong-gu district office. The market will offer top-quality farm, marine and specialty goods from its sister cities all in one place.

The market will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 17 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 18, and is open to anyone who wishes to visit and shop. Payment can be made in cash or by card, and Onnuri gift certificates will also be accepted for some items.

Thirty-seven farms recommended by 22 of Gangdong-gu's 23 sister cities and counties nationwide will take part in this year's market. Shoppers can expect a wide range of specialty products well-suited as holiday gifts. Offerings include makgeolli and rice snacks from Gyeonggi Province; mushrooms, pine nuts and traditional confections from Gangwon Province; and vegetables, grains and salted seafood from the Chungcheong provinces. Also available are seasonal fruits and meats from the Gyeongsang provinces, and dried yellow corvina and seaweed from the Jeolla provinces.

The event is held every holiday season to promote mutual prosperity between urban and rural areas and strengthen ties between friendship cities. This year's market will again include a food-sharing campaign, with participating farms voluntarily donating a portion of their sales proceeds.

"I hope this direct market gives residents a meaningful opportunity to purchase excellent farm and marine specialty products at reasonable prices ahead of Chuseok, while also deepening the bonds of goodwill and mutual prosperity with our friendship and sister cities," said Gangdong-gu District Mayor Lee Su-hee.
