Youn Yuh-jung, the first Korean actress to win an Academy Award for best supporting actress, came up short in her bid for an Emmy.

According to Star Today on Wednesday, Youn was nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie at the 78th Emmy Awards but did not win.

The award went to Linda Cardellini for her role in the HBO Max series "DTF St. Louis."

Youn had earned the nomination for playing Chairman Park, a Korean billionaire, in season two of the Netflix series "Beef." Expectations had been high given that Youn became the first Korean actress to win an Oscar, for the 2021 film "Minari."

"Beef" season two received 16 nominations across 14 categories at this year's Emmys and has so far won three awards: outstanding sound mixing, outstanding sound editing and outstanding contemporary costumes.

"Beef," created and directed by Korean American director Lee Sung-jin, has drawn worldwide attention for both its critical acclaim and popularity since its first season.

The 78th Emmy Awards are being held over three days: Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The Saturday and Sunday ceremonies were recorded, while the final ceremony will air live on Monday at 5 p.m. (Pacific time) on NBC.
