Installation, trial-run practice held in on-site-like setting

In-house EHS masters, outside boiler experts serve as instructors

Samsung Electronics said Thursday that it has built a new EHS heat pump training center at its CS Academy in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. The company plans to train B2B partners and installation engineers on the installation and service of EHS heat pump products to strengthen field response capabilities.

Heat pump performance and customer experience can vary greatly depending on the quality of water pipe installation and maintenance work, making specialized installation and service expertise essential.

The newly established EHS heat pump training center replicates real installation sites. It is equipped with alternating and thermal storage water tanks with hot water control kits, floor heating hot water distributors, water piping systems, and fan coil units (FCU).

Engineers can practice the entire process, from water pipe installation and product setup to trial runs and service checks. They use HASS (Home Appliances Smart Service), an AI-based smart diagnostic program for home appliances.

In-house EHS masters specializing in EHS heat pump installation, along with outside experts in boilers and water piping, serve as instructors. They cover heating and hot water systems, water pipe installation, and installation inspection overall.

EHS heat pump products are an integrated solution that supplies indoor heating, cooling and hot water using natural air heat and electricity. Compared with conventional fossil fuel-based boilers, which have energy efficiency below 100 percent, they can generate more heat than the energy put into them.

The government is pushing to supply 3.5 million high-efficiency heat pumps by 2035. Samsung Electronics has built a domestic production line for EHS heat pump boilers at its Gwangju plant in Buk-gu, part of the South Jeolla-Gwangju Integrated Special City, and will begin full-scale mass production later this month.

Samsung Electronics conducted region-specific training for about 200 installation engineers in Jeju in April, as heat pump adoption gains momentum there. Reflecting Jeju's high share of solar power generation, the training covered thermal storage systems that convert and store surplus electricity as heat energy.

Samsung Electronics is also enhancing the installation, service and maintenance capabilities of B2B partners and engineers in major overseas markets, including the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom, through specialized HVAC training programs.

"Heat pumps are a key solution for realizing high-efficiency, eco-friendly heating, so it is important to build professional installation, trial-run and service capabilities," said Lim Sung-taek, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics' Digital Appliances Business. "Following the establishment of a domestic production base, we will continue to expand professional training and service infrastructure to actively respond to the spread of heating electrification in South Korea."
