LIG Defense & Aerospace, or LIG D&A, said Thursday that former Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Japanese Ambassador to South Korea Koichi Mizushima visited the company's Pangyo House in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday.

LIG D&A was the only South Korean defense company that Ishiba's delegation visited during its trip to South Korea. The group held friendly talks with LIG D&A CEO Shin Ik-hyun and Future Strategy Division Head Park Jong-sung.

The delegation toured LIG D&A's exhibition hall and viewed the company's key weapons systems, including the Cheongung-II precision-guided missile system, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, avionics, and space and unmanned systems. They also reviewed the company's core technologies and research and development capabilities firsthand.

Both sides agreed on the importance of security cooperation between South Korea and Japan amid a rapidly shifting security environment in Northeast Asia. They also exchanged views on ways to create synergy between the two countries' defense industries.

"It is meaningful that we were able to share our advanced R&D technology and global competitiveness with former Prime Minister Ishiba and Ambassador Mizushima's delegation during their visit," said Shin, the LIG D&A CEO. "We will continue to offer trusted defense solutions going forward."
